What is Snipping Tool? It is a screenshooting utility in Windows that is designed to take a snapshot of what you are looking at on your computer screen, almost like a built in camera. But it can at the same time select a specific area that you want to show someone online. Here is how you find the tool.

In these examples both windows 7 and 8 have been used to show how to find Snipping Tool. They differ slightly but the result is the same. If you use the Menu window (win 7) then select All Programs and then Accessories. In Windows 8 it's very easy to search for. Even if your computer is not set to English it is very likely that the computer will translate automatically anyway when you type "Snipping". Use the slideshow to the left for an illustrated explanation. |
This is what the program should look like once you find it and click to run it. Click New in the toolbar on the left to make a screen shot. The simplest version is the rectangular snip but you can also choose Free-form Snip to make your own shape of the screen shot.
How is this tool useful? If you have a friend who doesn't understand a feature in the Farmtown game or if you have trouble explaining what it is you see in the game that you think is wrong, it's sometimes easier to show with an image. Here is an example; someone doesn't understand where to find the search feature in the facility manager so you use snipping tool to show where it is.
DO NOT FORGET TO SAVE YOUR SCREEN SHOT TO YOUR COMPUTER
AND REMEMBER WHERE YOU SAVED IT!
The most practical place to save it is in your Pictures folder. Then you can upload the image in Facebook by using the photo icon in the comment box.
