LIFELINES MADE SIMPLE
There are 3 different Lifelines and you must pay attention to which one you get before you ask for help! PLEASE VERIFY WHICH ONE YOU HAVE BEFORE ASKING FOR HELP IN THE GROUP!
To request a lifeline for your current quest, click on the red/white lifesaver icon in the top right corner of the Quest Manager. If you choose to click on the Lifesaver, you are stuck with the one you get until that quest is finished---You will not get another one when it's time for another quest unless you've finished the quest that you activated it on or that quest expires. Further help can be found in our Step-By-Step guide.
Possible Lifelines: 1. Trader 2. Gift 3. Employee |
TRADER LIFELINE
This means to BUY it---and you are welcome to post in the group and ask if anyone has some of what you need that they will sell you or you can go to the "Market" and see if someone there will sell it to you.
Limitation to this Lifeline:
It must be a PRIMARY product (crops, animal products, fish, flowers)---Things we're allowed to sell at any other time. No one can sell secondary products (things that require a facility to make them, such as cinnamon bundles/meats/chocolate liquor), so these types of things can't be acquired with this lifeline.
Examples: You may buy cinnamon logs, but not cinnamon bundles, sugarcane but not sugar. If it requires a facility to make it, you can NOT buy or sell it!

EMPLOYEE LIFELINE
Obtain the item you require for your quest by working for another farmer. There are two options and you may use one or both
NEW AND ADDITIONAL INFORMATION CAN BE FOUND (CLICK -->) HERE
A. For crops, post on the wall which crop(s) you require and ask if anyone has any ready for harvest. If they do, they can hire you to harvest. PLEASE be aware that the other farmer may not WANT all of their farm harvested, and since the quests don't need very many, it's important to pay attention to the person hiring you regarding how many you can take. Check to see how many of the item you require then use the SINGLE harvesting tool (scythe) to harvest only as much as you require. Taking more than you need when the farmer has not said "take it all" can result in that person not offering their crops again!
You only get a percentage of the crop/trees/flowers harvested, and Slashkey has not set a specific number (they HAD at one time....this has changed!!)
What we suggest is that you ONLY TAKE 3-5 at a time, and then check your quest. You can check your quest at any time by clicking on the Extended Toolbar and the quest cube will be there.
DO NOT TAKE MORE THAN YOU NEED WITHOUT ASKING OR PEOPLE WILL STOP OFFERING YOU THEIR CROPS!!
B. If the item you require comes from a facility, you can follow a Facilities post from the group wall (post must be from someone on your friends list) and work in their facilities. Whenever you work someone else's facilities you receive a percentage of the items produced while you are there - including the item you require for your quest (assuming they have the right facility).
For example - your quest is to make Tuna Sandwiches. You can do all the following steps with the employee lifeline, on someone else's farm. Remember that they must be done in the correct order for the quest or they will not count.
Harvest wheat
Harvest lettuce
Fish for the tuna
Earn canned Tuna from working their Food Preserve Factory
Earn flour from working their Windmill
Earn bread from working their Bakery
RECOMMENDATION - CHECK YOUR QUEST before you leave to verify you have what you need. Sometimes, for a reason we haven't figured out yet, they may NOT count. Once again, VERIFY you have the EMPLOYEE lifeline and clear your cache, cookies and run the FT Mem Cache cleaner. If they still don't show, you'll need to harvest them again from another farm.
IF YOUR QUEST INCLUDES "LOAD INTO A SERVICE FACILITY", (SF) you can get the finished product you need to "load" from working others facilities with the EMPLOYEE lifeline too, but you first must have the other steps completed. (and of course own the Service Facility you need to "load" it in) By working someone else's facility, you can save the time it would take for you to make it yourself (if you have the facility needed to make it) or get a finished product you need for a SF you DO own when you DON'T own the facilty that makes it.
For example---You have a quest that requires you to load Hedge Shears into the Home Depot Store (which you own) but you don't own the Garden Tools Facilty. You can work someone else's Garden Tool facility and get the Hedge Shears, and then you're free to "load" them into your Home Depot Store!
If you DO own the Garden Tools facility, you can save 6 hours of production time by getting them from someone else's!

GIFT LIFELINE
With this lifeline you can receive any of the items required for your quest as a gift from another farmer. You are not restricted to the items on the normal gift list (those are easily collected from free gift sites or by exchanging another gift in your requests). Gifts must be moved to your storage before they will be credited towards the quest.
Example ---you need chicken for your quest but don't have the semi---EXCHANGE a gift you already received for the gift chicken instead.
IF THE GIFT YOU NEED IS NOT ON THE NORMAL GIFT LIST
You can find a finished product that contains something you need and can get it from posting for the ingredients for that finished product.
EXAMPLE:
You need cinnamon bundles (not a normal gift)---go to your bakery and request the ingredients by clicking on the + sign on the Cinnamon Buns. Once you've received them as a gift, put them into storage and your quest step that requires the cinnamon bundles should be fulfilled.
If your quest item requires all primary products (e.g. premium dog food), make your ingredient request for the item you are making in your quest - that way you will get ALL the ingredients into your gift box at the same time - quest done (almost - you still have to combine them into the final product)!!
It is important to add the items to your storage in the correct order! If you need wheat to make flour, FIRST ask for FLOUR INGREDIENTS, to get the wheat. Then you can ask for anything that requires flour and flour will be included in that gift however:
If your quest includes a finished product that contains many finished products as ingredients (Cinnamon Buns in the bakery for example...requires flour, cinnamon bundles and sugar) the easiest thing to do to assure you get all the things you need is to ask for the ingredients needed for cinnamon buns.
YOU MUST STILL FULFILL PRIMARY STEPS BEFORE SECONDARY STEPS THOUGH! Wheat before flour, sugarcane before sugar, cinnamon logs before cinnamon bundles.
You can only ask for a maximum of 5 every 12 hours, so use your requests carefully!
IF YOU START PROCESSING SOMETHING IN YOUR OWN FACILITIES (example, coffee beans into ground coffee) you WILL NOT be able to then use the gift option to fulfill that step---You will have to WAIT until your facility is done!!
GETTING GIFTS FROM A NEIGHBORS FACILITIES
IF YOU DON'T OWN A FACILITY THAT HAS A PRODUCT THAT CONTAINS THE INGREDIENT(S) YOU NEED TO COMPLETE YOUR QUEST, YOU CAN GO TO A NEIGHBOR'S FARM THAT HAS THE FACILITY, FIND THE FACILITY YOU NEED. CLICK TO OPEN FACILITY AND FIND THE PRODUCT YOU NEED, AND CLICK ON THE + SIGN AND "ASK FOR INGREDIENTS" USING THEIR FACILITY! THE GIFTS WILL STILL GO INTO YOUR GIFT BOX, AND WHEN MOVED TO STORAGE, WILL COUNT TOWARD YOUR QUEST!
EXAMPLE--You need Chocolate Liquor for your quest but don't own the Chocolate Factory. Find a neighbor who has one, click to open it, find the + sign next to the Chocolate Liquor and click to "ask for ingredients"
You can only use this if you haven't already hit your daily limit on bonuses/ingredients
It does NOT effect your neighbors facility in any way!
