Quest Step-By-Step
This is an introduction to the quest feature in the Farmtown game. It is meant for those of you who have never tried it or who have tried but not really got the hang of how to start and finish a quest.
The pictures in this tutorial are set to enlarge if you click on them in case you have trouble making out the details.
When you want to start a new quest, open your extended tool box in Farmtown and click the cube marked with question marks.
When you want to start a new quest, open your extended tool box in Farmtown and click the cube marked with question marks.
After you click the cube you should get a dialogue box that looks similar to the one on the left. It will give a generic information about the quest and also ask you to click the blue "Accept Quest" button at the bottom of the page. When you click it, a task will be created at random. There are no "levels" or "degrees" for these, it is just pure chance what you happen to get.
In this case I happen to get a simple quest: produce and load blueberry yogurt. Sometimes you might only get a quest that asks you to only produce. To produce a product you have to have the facility that makes that particular product, but to load a product means you have to have the service facility that "sells" it.
You will get a new dialogue box telling you what is required to make one batch of blueberry yogurt in this case. It won't matter what product you have in your quest, the dialogue box will explain what is needed for whatever product you are asked to produce. In the upper left is shown what product facility is needed. If you hover over the facility icon as is shown in this image, a drop down comment will tell you the name of the facility and if you own it.

In the previous picture you will find a blue link above the shown ingredients, that says "See what facilities to stock....". All the ingredient dialogue boxes have this link if you can stock the needed product in a service facility. Click the link and you will get a new dialogue box as shown to the left that shows what service
facility is needed to load the product. If you hover over the facility it will also show
a drop down dialogue telling you what the name of the facility is and if you own it.
You can of course close any dialogue box by clicking the "X" in the upper right
corner.

Fortunately the necessary facilities are indeed owned and so it is possible to finish this particular quest. If you however wish to finish the quest a little faster or if you do not happen to have the necessary ingredients for whatever reason, hover the lifesaver icon at the upper right and, as shown in the picture, you will get another speech bubble telling you a little bit about "social lifelines". If you click the icon you will enter the last step of this little tutorial.
After clicking the lifesaver icon I get the "Gift" lifeline which in this case means for example that anyone of my friends can send me blueberries or milk as gifts. The lifelines are also generated at random and there is no way of telling before hand what you might get, however if you do NOT HAVE a lifeline then no friend can help you out with gifts, by selling you what you need or by letting you harvest their farms. It is why this part of the quest is so important.
NOTE: DO NOT ASK FOR HELP FROM ANYONE UNLESS YOU HAVE A CONFIRMED LIFELINE!

In this case 2 blueberries are needed as well as one milk. If you have blueberries ready for harvest, then you can harvest just the 2 and then have someone else do the rest. For milk you can simply go to your dairy shed and harvest cows if you have it ready. In this case however I've used a lifeline and gotten blueberries and milk as gifts. So now I can click the Dairy Processing Plant and click to make one batch of blueberry yogurt. In this case one batch is 50 items. When that is done I load the blueberry yogurt in the Bed and Breakfast facility. Note that you must get the green tick in the lower left corner of each step before proceeding to the next. Even if I can load the Bed and Breakfast with blueberry yogurt before the Dairy Processing Plant has finished that one batch, it will not count.
